Gang violence in Haiti has already caused at least 2300 deaths this year.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said on the 15th that armed violence in Haiti this year has already led to at least 2,300 deaths and 1,100 injuries, with 99 people kidnapped. He called on the Haitian judiciary to take swift action to hold the perpetrators of violence accountable. A UN spokesperson said last week that UN Secretary-General Guterres will visit Haiti on the 16th to meet with victims of armed gang violence in order to express support for them.
