National Bureau of Statistics: Mild increase in consumer prices, expansion in year-on-year increase in industrial producer prices.

In May, the national consumer price index rose by 1.2% year-on-year, the same as the previous month; it decreased by 0.1% month-on-month. In terms of categories, the prices of food, tobacco, and dining out decreased by 0.9% year-on-year, clothing prices rose by 1.4%, housing prices decreased by 0.2%, household goods and services prices rose by 1.8%, transportation and communication prices rose by 5.4%, education, culture, and entertainment prices rose by 1.3%, medical care prices rose by 2.1%, and other goods and services prices rose by 9.9%. In terms of food, tobacco, and dining out prices, pork prices fell by 16.1%, fresh fruit prices fell by 2.2%, grain prices fell by 0.3%, and fresh vegetable prices rose by 1.6%. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 1.1% year-on-year. From January to May, the national consumer price index rose by 1.0% year-on-year. In May, the national industrial producer price index rose by 3.9% year-on-year, an increase of 1.1 percentage points compared to the previous month; it rose by 0.5% month-on-month. The national industrial producer purchase price index rose by 5.8% year-on-year, an increase of 1.3% month-on-month. From January to May, the national industrial producer price index and purchase price index rose by 1.0% and 1.6% year-on-year, respectively.
