National Energy Administration: China's development of new energy and renewable energy maintained a good overall trend from January to April.
Recently, the National Energy Administration held a video conference on the monthly dispatch of national renewable energy power development and construction. The meeting pointed out that from January to April 2026, the overall development of new energy and renewable energy in China has remained in a good trend. By the end of April, the installed capacity of renewable energy generation has exceeded 2.4 billion kilowatts, accounting for 60.5% of the total installed capacity of power in the country; with an additional installed capacity of 75.16 million kilowatts, accounting for 70.7% of all new installed capacity; and generating 1.2 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 36.4% of the total social electricity consumption. Among them, the cumulative grid-connected wind and solar power installed capacity is 1.911 billion kilowatts, with a total power generation of 805.2 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 24.1% of the total social electricity consumption. The role of renewable energy in ensuring supply and promoting transformation is becoming more significant.
