On April 15th, Ding Xuexiang, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with Turkmenistan's national leader and Chairman of the People's Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in Ashgabat. Ding Xuexiang first conveyed warm greetings and good wishes from President Xi Jinping. Ding Xuexiang stated that under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and Chairman Berdimuhamedov, China-Turkmenistan relations have maintained rapid and stable development, achieving a leap from friendly cooperation partners to strategic partners, and then to comprehensive strategic partners. China is willing to work with Turkmenistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' top leaders, fully leverage the role of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee, and promote the accelerated development of cooperation in various fields between the two countries. Ding Xuexiang pointed out that natural gas cooperation is a vivid embodiment of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation in China-Turkmenistan relations. In recent years, the cooperation has been stable and fruitful, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. Both sides need to pay more attention to natural gas cooperation from a strategic perspective and long-term interests, seize the opportunity to use the cooperation window, adhere to mutual progress, accelerate the advancement of major projects, expand the scale of natural gas cooperation, and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of energy cooperation. At the same time, further enhance cooperation in non-resource fields such as connectivity, trade and investment, expand cooperation in areas such as photovoltaics, wind power, new energy vehicles, and artificial intelligence. China is willing to continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Turkmenistan within the framework of the China-Central Asia mechanism, supporting Turkmenistan as a permanently neutral country to play a greater role in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations.
