Academician Ouyang Mingga, of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated today at the high-level forum on the development of intelligent electric vehicles that, with technological advancements, the advantages of pure electric new energy vehicles will become increasingly prominent. They are China's most competitive vehicles in the global market with the fastest export growth. "The path for China to transition from a major automobile country to an automobile power is through electrification, intelligence, and low carbonization, constructing China into a strong power in new energy vehicles, with global market advantages, and new energy vehicles becoming the main products to dominate the global international market." Ouyang Mingga predicts that by 2030, more than 70% of China's new energy passenger cars, and over 80% by 2035, will be pure electric vehicles, with the rest being large battery hybrid vehicles; by 2030, the ratio of pure electric vehicles to plug-in hybrid extended-range vehicles will be at least 7:3, 8:2 by 2035, and 9:1 by 2040. Ouyang Mingga also forecasts that China's stock of new energy vehicles will reach 100-150 million by 2030, 200-300 million by 2035, and 300-380 million by 2040.
