The second batch of national retail industry innovation and promotion pilot cities application work has been launched.

On the 8th, it was learned from the Ministry of Commerce that the Ministry of Commerce and 4 other departments recently issued a notice to carry out the application work for the second batch of pilot cities for innovation and improvement in the national retail industry. According to the notice, the pilot application cities should be prefecture-level and above cities, with high enthusiasm, good foundation, and practical policies in promoting the development of the retail industry. They should be able to prepare pilot work plans in accordance with the requirements of the retail industry innovation and improvement project, promote the transformation of the retail industry, explore experiences of revitalizing commercial facilities with different strategies for each store, and create new formats, models, and scenes. It is understood that since 2025, the Ministry of Commerce has steadily promoted the construction of the first batch of 38 pilot cities for innovation and improvement in the retail industry, achieving positive results in expanding domestic demand, promoting consumption, and benefiting the people. The pilot cities have completed the renovation of 625 projects, with a total construction area of 24.1 million square meters, and have driven investment of approximately 75.6 billion yuan. Around the themes of "Shop in China", trading old for new consumer goods, Chinese time-honored brands, and "15-minute convenient life service month", a total of about 5,000 consumption promotion activities have been conducted.
