Cathay Pacific will increase fuel surcharges starting next Wednesday, with the increase more than doubled.
According to a report from Radio Television Hong Kong on March 12, Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will increase fuel surcharges for passenger flights starting from March 18, with the increases for short, medium, and long-haul flights all more than doubled. Starting next Wednesday, the fuel surcharge for short-haul flights will be increased from the current HK$142 to HK$290, medium-haul flights from HK$264 to HK$541, and long-haul flights from HK$569 to HK$1164. Cathay Pacific Airways stated that, due to the recent developments in the Middle East situation, aviation fuel prices have risen by nearly double since March, and fuel surcharges will be adjusted according to the established mechanism. Cathay Pacific Airways said it will regularly review the level of fuel surcharges and closely monitor trends in aviation fuel prices.
