Reporters learned from the Southern Power Grid that the Hainan-Guangdong Power Flexible Mutual Aid Project has recently been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The project plans to build a new 500 kV third cross-sea transmission line from Hainan Fushan to Guangdong Xuweng, with a transmission capacity of 600,000 kilowatts and a total investment of over 2.5 billion yuan. It is expected to start construction before the end of June this year and be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027. Currently, the Hainan power grid is connected to the main grid of the Southern Power Grid via two 500 kV network lines, with a mutual aid capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts. After the Hainan-Guangdong Power Flexible Mutual Aid Project is put into operation, the mutual aid capacity between Hainan and Guangdong will reach 1.8 million kilowatts, effectively ensuring the safe and stable operation of the connection between the Hainan power grid and the main grid of the Southern Power Grid, improving the mutual aid and emergency support capabilities between Hainan and Guangdong, better integrating into the construction of the national unified electricity market, and effectively supporting the coordinated development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
