Wang Yi spoke with Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Kamilov over the phone.
On the 16th, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Sayyidov, at the latter's invitation. Wang Yi stated that the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries provides the most important political guarantee for the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan in the new era. Last year was another fruitful year for China-Uzbekistan relations, with cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, culture, and local cooperation showing a comprehensive and continuously warming trend. Wang Yi pointed out that at the beginning of 2026, the international situation has become more turbulent, with the clouds of war looming and unilateral bullying rampant. China and Uzbekistan should strengthen strategic coordination, deepen strategic cooperation, firmly carry out their own tasks, support each other in safeguarding core interests, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, closely cooperate on international and regional issues, resist the law of the jungle of the weak being preyed upon by the strong, uphold the basic norms of international relations, maintain the leading position of the United Nations, promote international fairness and justice, and maintain regional peace and stability. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uzbekistan, and both sides should jointly design and expand the next decade of China-Uzbekistan relations. Sayyidov stated that the successful visit of President Mirziyoyev to China in September last year injected strong momentum into the bilateral relations. Developing relations with China is a priority direction of Uzbekistan's foreign policy, and there is a high level of mutual trust between the two sides, with their relationship not being affected by temporary incidents. Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the One-China principle and opposes any acts that harm China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Uzbekistan looks forward to working with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, further enhance high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in various fields, and promote the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China in the new era. Uzbekistan is willing to continue to strengthen multilateral communication and cooperation with China, uphold multilateralism, and uphold the basic norms of international law and international relations.
