Argentina's PxQ consulting company recently released a report saying that for the first time in 22 years, foreign direct investment in Argentina showed negative growth in 2025. Based on information recently released by the Central Bank of Argentina, the report estimated that from January to November 2025, foreign direct investment in Argentina was at a negative $1.52 billion, marking the first negative growth since 2003. The main reason for the negative growth in foreign direct investment is the large number of multinational companies exiting the Argentine market or selling their businesses to local companies. According to the Buenos Aires Herald, officials from the Argentine central bank confirmed to the newspaper that the negative growth in foreign direct investment was due to multinational companies selling their local businesses. Since December 2023, dozens of multinational companies have left the country due to global strategic realignments or lack of confidence in Argentina's macroeconomic situation.
