According to the news from the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, with the approval of the Chongqing Municipal Committee, the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has initiated an investigation into the serious disciplinary and legal violations of Zhang Shangyi, former member of the Party Committee and vice president of Chongqing Jiaotong University. After investigation, it was found that Zhang Shangyi had lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original aspirations and missions, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, resisted organizational investigations; disregarded the spirit of the eight-point regulations issued by the central government, accepted banquets that could potentially affect the fair execution of official duties, entered and exited private clubs in violation of regulations; disregarded organizational principles, sought profit for others in staff recruitment and accepted bribes; breached the bottom line of integrity, received gifts and money in violation of regulations, engaged in profit-making activities in violation of rules, used his position to benefit relatives, illegally used school public housing for personal use; engaged in corrupt practices, engaged in the exchange of power and money, used his position and power for personal gain in project contracting and fund allocation, and illegally accepted large amounts of money. Zhang Shangyi has seriously violated the Party's political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, and lifestyle discipline, constituting a serious violation of duty and suspected of bribery crimes. Furthermore, he has shown no signs of restraint or stopping after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, with a serious nature and a negative impact, and should be dealt with severely. In accordance with relevant provisions of the "Regulations on Discipline of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Sanctions Law for Public Officials of the People's Republic of China," after careful deliberation and approval of the Chongqing Municipal Committee, the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has decided to expel Zhang Shangyi from the Party, dismiss him from public office, confiscate his ill-gotten gains from violations and crimes, and transfer the suspected criminal issues to the procuratorate for review and prosecution in accordance with the law, with all related property confiscated.
