The Ministry of Commerce holds a symposium for foreign retail enterprises in Shanghai.

On November 8th, during the 8th China International Import Expo, Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping organized a symposium for foreign retail enterprises in Shanghai, with representatives from some foreign retail enterprises attending the discussion. Sheng Qiuping stated that the retail industry is a fundamental sector of the national economy, serving as a link between production and consumption and playing a crucial role in promoting production, expanding consumption, creating employment opportunities, safeguarding people's livelihoods, and strengthening the domestic circulation. The development of the retail industry in China is currently undergoing rapid transformation, with a huge scale, positive trends, and full of vitality. Sheng Qiuping pointed out that the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has set the direction for the future development of the retail industry in China. Foreign retail enterprises are welcomed to develop in China. It is hoped that foreign retail enterprises will have confidence in long-term development in China, act as a bridge for communication and exchange, and share the opportunities and achievements of China's development. The participating foreign retail enterprises expressed high regard for the development potential of the Chinese market, believing in the bright prospects of the Chinese economy, and expressing their willingness to develop long-term in China, increase investment, strengthen innovation, and achieve sustainable development by providing quality products and services to Chinese consumers.
