On Tuesday, the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Index closed up by 0.37%, above 10380 points, after a sharp rise at the opening, followed by continued high-level volatility. The Nigerian Stock Exchange's all-share index closed down by 5.04%, marking its worst single-day performance since March 19, 2010, approaching 141000 points. The Mauritius Stock Exchange SEMDEX index closed up by 0.01%, while the Nairobi Stock Exchange all share index closed down by 0.83%.
