On November 3, the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives issued a safety reminder: recently, some Chinese tourists tragically drowned while snorkeling in the Maldives, which is heartbreaking. The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives solemnly reminds Chinese tourists to pay high attention to water safety, increase safety awareness, and ensure personal safety. 1. Fully prepare before traveling: before traveling, thoroughly understand the natural conditions of the destination sea area including terrain, hydrology, weather, depth, and visibility. It should be noted that some resorts and homestays in the Maldives do not have lifeguards in all open water areas, and their supervision time and safety management levels vary. Elderly people, children, and those with poor swimming skills should be cautious in participating in water activities, and if necessary, they can choose not to participate. 2. Participate in water activities within your limits: water activities require certain physical strength, skills, and health conditions. Tourists should participate within their own limits and avoid participating in high-risk activities. People with heart diseases, high blood pressure, asthma, or those who have recently consumed alcohol or medication should not go into the water. 3. Choose activities wisely: choose tourism products and services booked through formal channels and do not go to areas with irregular operations or insufficient safety conditions. Participants in activities such as snorkeling, surfing, diving, and marine wildlife interaction should receive safety training in advance, strictly follow the instructions of coaches and lifeguards, wear life jackets correctly, and use safety equipment as required. 4. Pay close attention to weather and sea conditions: conduct water activities in calm sea conditions and good weather, and closely monitor local weather warnings and marine safety alerts. In case of strong winds, low visibility, or sudden changes in weather conditions, stop the activity immediately to avoid risky behavior at sea. 5. Enhance safety awareness: it is recommended to participate in water activities with companions, take care of each other, and ensure that someone can seek help and rescue in emergencies. Do not stray from coaches and companions during activities, do not enter restricted or unmarked areas, and avoid going into the water while under the influence of alcohol, medication, or feeling unwell. Always stay alert and prioritize safety. The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives wishes all Chinese tourists a smooth and safe journey in the Maldives!
