China Iron and Steel Association: In late February, the key statistics show that the daily crude steel production of steel enterprises reached 2.13 million tons, an increase of 1.38% compared to the previous month.

On March 6, China Iron and Steel Industry Association announced that in late February 2024, key steel companies in China produced a total of 19.1696 million tons of crude steel, 16.9009 million tons of pig iron, and 18.5848 million tons of steel. Among them, the daily production of crude steel was 2.13 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 1.38%, a 4.06% decrease compared to the same period last year, and a 2.51% increase compared to the same period two years ago; the daily production of pig iron was 1.8779 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 1.42%, a 6.23% decrease compared to the same period last year, and a 2.66% increase compared to the same period two years ago; the daily production of steel was 2.065 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 4.03%, an 8.62% decrease compared to the same period last year, and a 1.23% decrease compared to the same period two years ago. Based on this estimation, the daily production of crude steel nationwide this month is estimated to be 2.4576 million tons, with a month-on-month increase of 0.99%, the daily production of pig iron is 2.0737 million tons, with a month-on-month decrease of 1.46%, and the daily production of steel is 3.448 million tons, with a month-on-month increase of 2.13%. By late February 2024, the steel inventory of key steel companies in China was approximately 18.02 million tons, a decrease of 959,000 tons or 5.05% compared to the previous ten-day period (mid-February), an increase of 5.8207 million tons or 47.71% compared to the same period last month, an increase of approximately 600,000 tons or 3.44% compared to the same period last year, and an increase of 1.919 million tons or 11.92% compared to the same period two years ago.
