Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mabel Chan said that Hong Kong's first "Five-Year Plan" has set 105 targets, and maintaining Hong Kong's leading position in global air cargo throughput is one of the 22 major targets. CATHAY PAC AIR is Hong Kong's flagship airline, and to let Hong Kong's aviation strength soar, the bureau looks forward to working closely with Cathay, as well as all members of the entire Airport City, to jointly implement the multiple air transport strategies in the "Five-Year Plan" and the new "Policy Address," and go all out to consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's aviation hub advantages. These include promoting the Dongguan Air Cargo Centre and sea-air intermodal transport; optimizing clearance for fresh and live food and two-way trade; flexibly approving flights and expanding the international aviation network; strengthening connections with the mainland and increasing global destinations; and developing the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry chain. This year marks the 80th anniversary of CATHAY PAC AIR, and Mabel Chan attended the company's anniversary dinner earlier. She was pleased to learn that Cathay, in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, once again ranked among the world's top three best airlines, while also receiving two honors: World's Best Cabin Crew and World's Best First Class Lounge. In addition, at the 2027 Airline Industry Achievement Awards organized by the aviation industry magazine Air Transport World (ATW), it was selected for the fourth time as Cargo Operator of the Year.
