On July 31, CATHAY PAC AIR (00293) announced that its subsidiary Hong Kong Express will increase the fuel surcharge starting tomorrow (August 1). The latest fee schedule shows that for segments departing from Hong Kong to other regions excluding mainland China, the surcharge will rise from HKD 241 to HKD 339, an increase of about 41%; for segments between Hong Kong and mainland China, the surcharge will increase from HKD 165 to HKD 198, a rise of 20%. Hong Kong Express stated that the fuel surcharge will be adjusted based on fuel prices, calculated per passenger and per segment. The fuel surcharge will be included in the total price of the ticket and calculated in the currency of the departure location of the first segment. It applies to all fare types, including regular and reward tickets. The fuel surcharge applies to all passengers, but infants under 2 years old who do not occupy a seat are exempt.
