In the first half of 2026, the total export value increased by 24.0% year-on-year to 8.22 billion patacas (Macanese dollars, the same hereinafter), comprised of re-exports (7.40 billion patacas) and local product exports (820 million patacas), which grew by 25.2% and 14.8%, respectively.
According to data from the Macao Statistics and Census Bureau, the total export value in the first half of 2026 increased by 24.0% year-on-year to 8.22 billion patacas (MOP). Among this, re-exports amounted to 7.40 billion patacas, which rose by 25.2%, while domestic product exports totaled 820 million patacas, increasing by 14.8%. The total import value reached 74.33 billion patacas, up by 24.6%. The total external merchandise trade in the first half of the year was 82.55 billion patacas, leading to a trade deficit of 66.12 billion patacas. By export destination, the value of goods exported to mainland China (900 million patacas), the Hong Kong SAR (5.98 billion patacas), and the European Union (110 million patacas) increased by 152.5%, 20.8%, and 21.0% year-on-year, respectively. In contrast, exports to the United States (130 million patacas) saw a decline of 10.6%. By commodity classification, textile and clothing exports rose by 0.1% to 720 million patacas, whereas non-textile products increased by 26.9% to 7.50 billion patacas. By the origin of imported goods, the value from mainland China (30.36 billion patacas), the Hong Kong SAR (5.26 billion patacas), and the European Union (17.98 billion patacas) increased by 70.5%, 61.0%, and 0.7% year-on-year, respectively. Analyzing by source of goods, imports from mainland China (11.49 billion patacas) and the Hong Kong SAR (59.54 billion patacas) rose by 22.3% and 26.7%, respectively. By commodity classification, consumer goods imports increased by 7.0% to 46.95 billion patacas, including a 49.2% rise in gold jewelry (8.11 billion patacas), while food and beverages (10.26 billion patacas) decreased by 8.3%. In June 2026, the total value of goods exported amounted to 1.26 billion patacas, which represented a year-on-year increase of 32.7%. The re-export value (1.11 billion patacas) rose by 37.3%, with diamonds and diamond jewelry increasing by 47.3%, while products used in entertainment decreased by 10.2%. Exports of domestic products (160 million patacas) increased by 7.7%, with copper and its products rising by 16.5%, whereas pharmaceuticals and organic chemical products decreased by 12.3%. The total import value increased by 24.4% year-on-year to 12.12 billion patacas, with gold jewelry and mobile phones increasing by 79.1% and 46.8%, respectively, while food and beverages decreased by 13.4%. The trade deficit in June was 10.85 billion patacas. In the second quarter of 2026, the export (4.04 billion patacas) and import (37.32 billion patacas) values rose by 28.9% and 25.0% year-on-year, respectively. The trade deficit in goods was 33.28 billion patacas.
