According to data from the Statistics and Census Service of Macao, the electronic payment transaction volume in the catering industry in June 2026 (hereinafter referred to as transaction volume) experienced a slight year-on-year decline of 0.2%, while the retail industry saw an increase of 7.3%. In the first half of the year, the transaction volumes in the two sectors increased by 1.7% and 15.6% year-on-year, respectively.

In June 2026, the transaction volume of the catering industry decreased slightly by 0.2% year-on-year to 1.06 billion Macao patacas. Among these, the transaction volume of tea restaurants and congee and noodle shops increased by 6.1%, while that of Chinese restaurants and hotels decreased by 7.8%. In the first half of the year, the transaction volume of the catering industry rose by 1.7% year-on-year to 6.92 billion Macao patacas.

In June 2026, the transaction volume of the retail industry increased by 7.3% year-on-year to 4.08 billion Macao patacas, with significant increases in transaction volumes for watches and jewelry (+40.8%) and cosmetics and hygiene products (+32.9%). In the first half of the year, the transaction volume of the retail industry rose by 15.6% year-on-year to 29.45 billion Macao patacas.
