Hong Kong stock concept tracking | Commercial trial of satellite Internet of Things officially launched! The market size of trillions is promising (with concept stocks)
Industry insiders introduced that after China launches commercial trials of satellite IoT, it will bring a large demand for satellite launches, thereby driving the rapid development of the satellite manufacturing, rocket launch, and other related industries.
At the 2025 China "5G+" Industrial Internet Conference opened on November 22, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the official launch of commercial trials of China's satellite IoT services. It is reported that the commercial trial period will be two years, aiming to enrich the supply of the satellite communication market, stimulate the vitality of operators, enhance industry service capabilities, establish a security supervision system, form replicable and scalable experiences and models, and support the safe and healthy development of emerging industries such as commercial aerospace and low-altitude economy.
Industry insiders introduced that after China launches commercial trials of satellite IoT, it will bring a large demand for satellite launches, thus driving rapid development of the satellite manufacturing, rocket launch, and other related industries in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.
Satellite IoT services refer to low-speed data services that connect various IoT devices through satellite communication technology, providing wide-area IoT connections for data collection terminals, wearable devices, handheld terminals, various terminals, and vehicles such as cars, ships, and airplanes.
As an important part of the new infrastructure, China's satellite communication development has entered the fast lane this year. In August of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Guiding Opinions on Optimizing Business Access to Promote the Development of the Satellite Communication Industry," which coordinated the opening up of satellite communication businesses and systematically planned the work. Conducting commercial trials of satellite IoT services is an important measure to implement the deployment of the "Guiding Opinions," to adapt to the trend of technological innovation and industrial transformation, and to actively explore new types of satellite communication businesses.
With the implementation of policies and the start of trials, the market prospects of satellite internet have attracted widespread attention. CITIC SEC's report believes that the strategic position of the satellite communication industry is highlighted, and the policy orientation is clear. On the domestic industry level, high-frequency launches have arrived, and the turning point of the industry is imminent. China Securities Co., Ltd.'s research report shows that the scale of China's satellite communication market will exceed 80 billion yuan in 2023, and it is expected that the compound annual growth rate of the market size from 2024 to 2029 will be approximately 15%. The satellite communication industry market size is expected to exceed around 200 billion yuan in 2029.
Once the commercial trials of satellite IoT services are successful, which scenarios will erupt first? Gao Zelong, a member of the China Association of Transportation and Economy Professional Committee on Low-altitude Transportation and Economy, said in a media interview that the integrated network of sky, space, and land will drive changes in four major scenarios. Among them, in the agricultural intelligence sector, remote areas will be connected by drones and sensors to achieve precise irrigation and production control. In the field of energy digitization, facilities such as oil fields and wind farms will rely on satellites to achieve real-time data transmission and remote monitoring, significantly reducing operating costs.
Gao Zelong mentioned that in emergency communications support, rapidly building temporary networks for disaster areas and remote areas will become the "lifeline" of rescue command. At the same time, satellite IoT is a key cornerstone for the scale application of low-altitude economy, providing wide and reliable communication support for drone logistics, air traffic management, etc., empowering a three-dimensional intelligent traffic network.
Galaxy Securities recently stated that the commercial trials of satellite IoT will drive the extension of China's commercial aerospace industry chain from upstream manufacturing to downstream application, indicating that the commercial satellite industry is about to enter a new stage of dual efforts on the demand side and support side, with the potential formation of an industrial closed-loop. Satellite IoT, based on a space-based network, can achieve global real-time tracking and data transmission of low-altitude aircraft, accurately filling the communication gap in low-altitude economy. Satellite IoT has become a key link connecting the two major new productivity forces of commercial aerospace and low-altitude economy, promoting deep coupling and collaborative efforts between the two, and related enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain have broad development space.
Guotai Haitong's report believes that as space resources competition intensifies, satellite internet has become a new highland for global technological competition. With the acceleration of network formation and continuous technological maturity, satellite internet will gradually shift from "strategic layout" to "commercial operation," becoming an important force driving global communication transformation. Although China started relatively late, relying on national strategic support and market size advantages, it is expected to occupy a place in the new space economy race track.
