In the first eight weeks of Q3 2025, Chinese smartphone sales dropped by 2% year-on-year, due to a significant decrease in sales volume for Vivo and Honor. Counterpoint predicts that the Chinese smartphone market will experience a slight decline in Q3 2025, but overall performance for the year will remain stable.
Counterpoint data shows that in the first eight weeks of Q3 2025, the sales of vivo and Honor have significantly declined, leading to a 2% year-on-year decrease in smartphone sales in China. Vivo's Y300, S30, and X200s series have performed well in the mid-range market, but increased competition in the mid-to-high-end market due to promotional activities and national subsidy policies has led consumers to purchase more mid-to-high-end products, benefiting companies like OPPO and Huawei. Counterpoint predicts a slight decline in the Chinese smartphone market in Q3 2025, while the overall performance for the year remains stable. Market Share of Chinese Smartphone Sales in the first eight weeks of Q3 2025 (by OEM manufacturer): Note: Percentages may not add up to 100% due to rounding; OPPO includes OnePlus. Apple Inc. (AAPL.US)'s market share also declined by one percentage point, but thanks to the steady performance of the iPhone 16 Pro series after price adjustments, the overall impact is limited. This has allowed the iPhone 16 series to maintain growth compared to the iPhone 15 series in July at least, the same period as in 2024. OPPO is the fastest growing manufacturer. Its Reno 14 series is popular for combining flagship features with mid-range prices. The series' excellent imaging performance, durable and practical design, long-lasting battery life, and strong overall performance meet all consumer expectations, making it one of the best-selling flagship smartphones in China after the iPhone 16 series. Huawei has maintained growth with its expanding product portfolio. The recently launched Nova 14 series has continued the strong performance of the Nova 13 series and has been selling well since its launch in May. Together with the continued strong performance of older high-end flagship products like the Mate 70 series, Huawei's ranking in the Chinese smartphone market share continues to rise. Honor is struggling, with the most severe decline in market share among major OEM manufacturers, due to its channel strategy still undergoing adjustments.
