Samsung Electronics is currently in talks with companies such as OpenAI and Perplexity AI to collaborate on integrating more AI services into the next generation of Galaxy devices, in order to provide a richer selection than Google's Gemini. Choi Won-Joon, President and Chief Operating Officer of Samsung's mobile business, stated that the company aims to provide a variety of AI options for the Galaxy S26 smartphone series set to be launched next year. Currently, Samsung's product line, like other Android devices, mainly features AI models from Google's parent company, Alphabet. "We are currently in talks with multiple suppliers," Choi Won-Joon said in an interview at Samsung's Suwon headquarters, "As long as these AI agents are competitive and can provide the best user experience, we are open to any AI technology." It is reported that Samsung is close to reaching an investment agreement with Perplexity and integrating its applications and assistant functions. This Galaxy smartphone manufacturer, similar to its longtime rival Apple, is trying to enhance its strength by introducing high-quality external AI resources. In addition to the AI field, this comprehensive enterprise spanning mobile devices and chips is also evaluating a new application processor for the Galaxy S26, while considering Qualcomm products and their in-house Exynos 2600 chip. In the recently released Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable smartphone, Samsung used its in-house Exynos chipset for the first time, aiming to reduce reliance on Qualcomm and address market doubts about the efficiency and cooling performance of its Exynos series. Apple plans to launch its first foldable iPhone next year, with a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, and incorporating several core components including a foldable OLED screen supplied by Samsung Displays. "This is just the beginning of foldable phones becoming mainstream," Choi Won-Joon said when discussing the new product released this summer. He added that more global companies entering this field would benefit the industry's development.
