Trump also vowed to eliminate subsidies for purchasing electric cars, which help boost sales while federal incentives still exist.Charlotte Yates, Professor Emeritus at McMaster University and Chair of the Automotive Policy Research Centre, said, "People are also deeply concerned about the Canadian automotive industry because it is uncertain about its future direction. A series of public policy changes and shifts in political attitudes, and of course, the threat of tariffs, have indeed made the industry in Canada feel uneasy."
Ontario Premier Ford believes that the United States and Canada should continue to work together as they have for decades. Ford said, "We should focus on Mexico and others, rather than our closest ally in the world. Let's build a fortress, a fortress of Americans and Canadians against the rest of the world. If we stand united, we will not be stopped."
