On November 20th, the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, predicted that the total number of tourists for the year would reach 33 million, with a target of 2 million international tourists, and expressed confidence in achieving a total of 34 million tourists. Recent tourism data has shown strong performance, with a good number of inbound tourists during the four-day Macau Grand Prix despite unfavorable weather. December is also a peak tourism season, and the authorities will continue to actively attract more tourists.
Fernandes pointed out that there is a positive shift in the source structure of visitors to Macau, with a trend towards individual travelers. She noted the increase in the number of international tourists, crediting various policies such as offering "free direct bus and ferry tickets" to international visitors coming to Hong Kong and promoting through multiple channels.
Looking ahead to next year, the authorities will continue to strengthen cooperation with different airlines and explore cooperation models with the Hong Kong, Macau, and Greater Bay Area in line with policies to facilitate visa application for foreigners. They will make use of surrounding airports and infrastructure to attract more international tourists.
Furthermore, the authorities are currently working on the second review report of the "Tourism Development Master Plan," which will include recommendations for development direction. They aim to complete key topics by the end of the year.
