Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department: In October, the passenger volume of Hong Kong International Airport reached 4.55 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%.
In the first 10 months of this year, the passenger volume reached approximately 44 million, and the number of aircraft take-offs and landings increased to 298,655, up 38.6% and 36.7% respectively compared to the same period in 2023.
On November 19, the Hong Kong Airport Authority released the aviation traffic figures for Hong Kong International Airport in October 2024. During the month, the airport handled 4.55 million passengers and 31,625 aircraft movements, representing a year-on-year increase of 21.3% and 20.3% respectively.
Passenger traffic growth remained stable in October, with double-digit year-on-year increases recorded for all categories of passengers, including Hong Kong residents, visitors, transit, and transfer passengers, particularly notable growth in passenger traffic to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China, and Japan.
Cargo throughput in October increased by 12.7% year-on-year to 442,000 metric tons. Export cargo remained the main driver of growth, increasing by 15.6% compared to the same month last year. Among the major trading regions, cargo traffic to and from Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East saw the most significant growth.
In the first 10 months of the year, passenger traffic reached approximately 44 million passengers, with aircraft movements increasing to 298,655, up by 38.6% and 36.7% respectively compared to the same period in 2023. Cargo throughput also increased by 15.4% year-on-year to 4.03 million metric tons.
Over the past 12 months, passenger traffic at the airport surged to 51.6 million passengers, a 51.5% increase year-on-year; aircraft movements rose by 43.8% to 356,355, and cargo throughput increased by 15.9% to 4.9 million metric tons.
In October, CATHAY PAC AIR, Hong Kong Airlines, and Greater Bay Airlines each launched new routes connecting Hong Kong to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Yonago, Japan, expanding Hong Kong International Airport's extensive aviation network.
