Boeing Company (BA.US) stated that more than 32,000 machinists on strike were required to return to the factory by Tuesday at the latest, but it will still take several weeks for the factory to resume operations. The company said on Tuesday that it delivered 14 jet planes in October, the fewest since November 2020 when the pandemic was at its peak, and also the final stage of the global grounding of Boeing Company's 737 Max after two fatal accidents. Nine of the planes delivered last month were 737 Max. A spokesperson said that workers unaffected by the strike carried out the delivery process. Last week, the strike that lasted over seven weeks came to an end, which had caused a halt in production for most of Boeing Company's airplanes. It ended with Boeing Company machinists approving a new contract, which includes a 38% pay raise over four years and other improvements. The first strike occurred on September 13, when workers rejected a proposed 25% pay increase. This year, Boeing Company's numerous troubles have further put it behind Airbus. The American manufacturer has delivered 305 aircraft so far this year, while its European competitor has delivered 559 aircraft. A spokesperson said that as workers gradually return to work, Boeing Company must assess potential hazards, reiterate the responsibilities and safety requirements of machinists, and ensure that all training qualifications are up to date. CEO Kelly Ortberg stated in last month's quarterly conference call, "It's much harder to turn things back on than to turn them off." "So getting this right is absolutely critical." Boeing Company is resuming the production of 737 Max, 767, and 777 as well as military aircraft in Washington and Oregon. Production of the Boeing Company 787 Dreamliner continued during the strike, as these aircraft are produced in a non-union factory in South Carolina. Despite the strike pause, Boeing Company continued to sell dozens of aircraft in October, with a total order of 63 aircraft, two fewer than in September. Among them, 40 were Avia Solutions Group's 737 Max 8. Additionally, it delivered 10 787 Dreamliner aircraft to Latin American airlines.
