Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu met with the media this morning (November 12) before the Executive Council meeting. Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said that the business sector is the main driving force behind economic development, and actual actions involve different categories. For example, the Hong Kong government will launch the "Northern Metropolis Development" in which the business sector can participate in various projects.
Regarding Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, who hosted a symposium in Shenzhen last Friday with 29 Hong Kong business people, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu expressed gratitude to Xia Baolong for providing guidance and direction for Hong Kong's future development. The SAR government will fulfill its duties as the head of the household, take proactive actions, unite all sectors to build Hong Kong together. He pointed out that the business sector, especially entrepreneurs, have the capability, experience, and network to drive economic development. All sectors of society should be good companions, active participants, and contributors, taking concrete and practical actions for Hong Kong's future.
When responding to questions from reporters, John Lee Ka-chiu said that actual actions involve different categories. He mentioned the launch of the "Northern Metropolis Development" to allow interested investors to expand the development of the North earlier and more flexibly, reducing the financial pressure on the Hong Kong government. He stated that the development of the North is a long-term process spanning 15 to 20 years, with vast development opportunities for businesses, the business sector, and investors to participate in various projects.
