On September 27, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released China's international balance of payments for goods and services trade data for August 2024. In August 2024, China's international balance of payments for goods and services trade totaled 4.18 trillion yuan, an increase of 4% compared to the same period last year. Among them, the export of goods trade was 2.0693 trillion yuan, imports were 1.4968 trillion yuan, resulting in a surplus of 572.4 billion yuan; the export of service trade was 230.8 billion yuan, imports were 383 billion yuan, resulting in a deficit of 152.2 billion yuan. The main items in service trade were: travel services with a trade volume of 193 billion yuan, transportation services with a trade volume of 182.2 billion yuan, other commercial services with a trade volume of 94.9 billion yuan, and telecommunications, computer and information services with a trade volume of 60.1 billion yuan.
In US dollar terms, in August 2024, China's international balance of payments for goods and services trade exports were 322.4 billion US dollars, imports were 263.5 billion US dollars, resulting in a surplus of 58.9 billion US dollars.
