On September 25th, the World Steel Association released the global crude steel production for August 2024. In August 2024, the crude steel production of 71 countries included in the World Steel Association's statistics was 144.8 million tons, a decrease of 6.5% compared to the previous year. Crude steel production by region: In August 2024, Africa's crude steel production was 1.9 million tons, a decrease of 7.2%; Asia and Oceania's crude steel production was 107.1 million tons, a decrease of 8.0%; the EU (27 countries) had a crude steel production of 9.1 million tons, an increase of 2.2%; other European countries had a crude steel production of 3.7 million tons, an increase of 8.4%; the Middle East had a crude steel production of 3.4 million tons, a decrease of 3.2%; North America had a crude steel production of 9.0 million tons, a decrease of 3.8%; Russia, other CIS countries, and Ukraine had a crude steel production of 7.0 million tons, a decrease of 8.7%; and South America had a crude steel production of 3.6 million tons, an increase of 0.8%. The above regions submitted data from 71 steel-producing countries, accounting for 98% of global crude steel production in 2023. Top ten countries in crude steel production: In August 2024, China's crude steel production was 77.92 million tons, a decrease of 10.4%; India had a crude steel production of 12.3 million tons, an increase of 2.6%; Japan's crude steel production was 6.9 million tons, a decrease of 3.9%; the United States had a crude steel production of 7.0 million tons, an increase of 0.7%; Russia's estimated crude steel production was 5.8 million tons, a decrease of 11.5%; Korea had a crude steel production of 5.5 million tons, a decrease of 2.2%; Germany had a crude steel production of 2.9 million tons, a decrease of 0.5%; Turkey had a crude steel production of 3.1 million tons, an increase of 13.8%; Brazil had a crude steel production of 3.0 million tons, an increase of 7.3%; and Iran had a crude steel production of 1.4 million tons, a decrease of 9.9%.
