On September 18th, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange published the data on bank settlement and sales of foreign exchange in August 2024, as well as the data on banks' handling of foreign exchange receipts and payments on behalf of clients.
On September 18, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released the data on bank foreign exchange settlement and sales, as well as bank foreign exchange receipts and payments on behalf of customers for August 2024. According to the statistics from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, in August 2024, banks settled 13.57 trillion yuan and sold 13.657 trillion yuan. From January to August 2024, banks accumulated 102.311 trillion yuan in settlements and 114.369 trillion yuan in sales.
In terms of US dollars, in August 2024, banks settled $190.2 billion and sold $191.4 billion. From January to August 2024, banks accumulated settlements of $143.85 billion and sales of $160.8 billion.
In August 2024, banks received 42.659 trillion yuan and made payments of 41.564 trillion yuan on behalf of customers. From January to August 2024, banks accumulated foreign exchange receipts of 329.222 trillion yuan and payments of 333.297 trillion yuan on behalf of customers.
In terms of US dollars, in August 2024, banks received $59.8 billion and made payments of $58.26 billion on behalf of customers. From January to August 2024, banks accumulated foreign exchange receipts of $462.88 billion and payments of $468.62 billion on behalf of customers.
