On September 10, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released data showing that in recent years, China's furniture industry has shown significant trends towards scale, branding, and intelligence. With the increasing optimization of policies in the real estate markets across the country, the enhancement of product innovation and customization capabilities in the furniture industry has greatly satisfied consumers' diverse and personalized demands, driving the industry's economic recovery and improvement. From January to July 2024, the operating income of furniture manufacturing enterprises above a certain scale reached 364.39 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%; and the total profits reached 17.79 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. The leather industry is a typical livelihood industry that has long been committed to product innovation and brand cultivation. The competitiveness of leather products and brand added value have further increased. In addition, with the deepening of digital transformation, the industry has seen significant improvements in quality and efficiency, leading to a continuous recovery and improvement in economic performance. From January to July 2024, the operating income of leather, fur, feather, and footwear enterprises above a certain size reached 468.03 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; and the total profits reached 20.03 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. With the increasing emphasis on environmental protection and the deepening of the "replace plastic with bamboo" movement, the plastics industry is paying more attention to sustainable development. By continuously developing new processes, materials, and products to meet new consumer demands, the industry's operations have remained stable. From January to July 2024, the national output of plastic products was 42.012 million tons, a decrease of 0.3% year-on-year. The household appliance industry is a traditional advantageous industry in China's national economy. By continuously implementing actions to increase variety, improve quality, and create brands, the industry is accelerating the development of new green, intelligent, and healthy household appliances to lead consumer upgrades. Effective implementation of trade-in programs for old appliances and increased demand during the summer peak season have led to a steady and rapid growth in household appliance production. From January to July 2024, the national production of household refrigerators was 58.61 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; room air conditioners production was 176.613 million units, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%; and household washing machines production was 61.429 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%. The paper industry is a basic raw material industry closely related to economic and social development, and is also a livelihood industry closely related to residents' daily lives. By continuously enhancing the industry's core competitiveness and market adaptability through technological innovation, digital transformation, and product upgrades, the paper industry has achieved significant improvements in quality, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement. From January to July 2024, the national production of machine-made paper and paperboard reached 89.579 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%. Enterprises in the paper and paper products industry above a certain scale achieved operating income of 814.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%; and total profits of 26.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 107.7%.
