GMTEightApp learned that on September 10th, Huawei released the world's first triple-folding phone, Mate XT. It has a starting price of 19,999 yuan, which is 6,000 yuan more expensive than Apple's most expensive model, the 16 Pro Max (1T version for 13,999 yuan), which is exactly the price of a basic version of the iPhone 16. Although the price is high, the pre-order number for Huawei Mate XT reached an amazing 5.05 million people from September 7th to the afternoon of September 11th, far exceeding market expectations. The popularity of Huawei Mate XT has also attracted strong attention in the industry. Its core suppliers for the screen, hinge, structural components, and battery modules, as the main "innovators," have collaboratively achieved core capabilities such as ultra-thin, triple-folding, high reliability, and long battery life, which have been widely noticed by the industry and capital markets. On the other hand, the camera module supplier, which has always been popular in conventional flagship models, has appeared to be neglected this time. According to media and industry chain sources, Huawei is deepening cooperation with domestic upstream and downstream companies in the industry chain to build a domestic supply chain. In terms of the hinge, Huawei Mate XT is the first to achieve an inward and outward folding hinge system, which Huawei calls the "Tiangong Hinge System." Through precise mechanical structure adjustments and repeated debugging with micron-level digital twin models, a perfect match between the hinge and the screen has been achieved. According to information from the supply chain, the overall value of the triple-folding screen hinge is around 1000 yuan, and assembly is still done by Taiwan's companies - Zongwang and Fushida. MIM accounts for more than 50% of the hinge cost in components, mainly supplied by NBTM New Materials Group, while Anhui Tatfook Technology supplies the rotating shaft component, with a smaller value. As for the structural components, Huawei Mate XT uses a newly developed metal middle frame to address concerns about the "thickness" of the triple fold. When fully expanded, the thickness is only 3.6mm, almost the same as the Type C charging port, with a weight of 298g. Its ultra-thin and large body, as well as the need to handle frequent folding scenarios, require extremely high architectural and material performance of the structural components to ensure the reliability of the entire device. According to the supply chain information, the supplier of AAC TECH (H shares) provides the middle frame of Huawei Mate XT. Based on the current unit price of the middle frame in high-end flagship phones, the price of the middle frame of Huawei Mate XT should be more than three times, around 700 to 1000 yuan. In terms of the screen, Huawei Mate XT uses an extraordinary flexible OLED display module with non-Newtonian fluid and a 322cm large UTG glass, forming a composite super-tough structure with double impact resistance, achieving a 75% improvement in screen impact resistance. According to supply chain information, the main screen suppliers are Boe Technology Group, Visionox Technology Inc., and Jiangsu Sidike New Materials Science & Technology. The value of the UTG glass is around 200 yuan, supplied by Triumph Science & Technology. In terms of the battery, Huawei Mate XT has three batteries with a total capacity of 5600mAh, providing long-lasting battery life. Each battery is only 1.9mm thick, extremely thin, and saving a significant amount of space in the device. Huawei calls it the "world's thinnest silicon negative large-capacity battery." According to the supply chain information, the battery supplier is Sunwoda Electronic. As of the afternoon of September 11th, the pre-order number for Huawei Mate XT has exceeded 5 million people, and it is still rapidly increasing, far exceeding market expectations. In terms of inventory, some supply chain sources mentioned that Huawei has pre-ordered approximately 400,000 to 600,000 units in advance for Mate XT, and "based on the plans we have received, the total inventory is around 1 million units."
