In urban areas, prices rose by 0.6%, while in rural areas they rose by 0.8%. Food prices went up by 2.8%, while non-food prices increased by 0.2%. Consumer goods prices increased by 0.7%, and service prices rose by 0.5%. The average increase in consumer prices nationwide from January to August was 0.2% compared to the same period last year.

1. Changes in various goods and services prices year-on-year:
In August, the prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol increased by 2.1% compared to the same period last year, contributing to a 0.58% increase in the CPI. Within food items, vegetable prices rose by 21.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.44%; fruit prices increased by 4.1%, affecting CPI by about 0.08%; meat prices went up by 3.8%, with pork prices specifically rising by 16.1% and contributing to a 0.21% increase in CPI; seafood prices rose by 1.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.03%; egg prices decreased by 3.5%, leading to a 0.02% decrease in CPI.
The prices of other categories increased, including household items and services by 3.4%, clothing by 1.4%, education, culture, and entertainment by 1.3%, and medical care by 1.3%. Home prices remained stable, while transportation and communication prices decreased by 2.7%.
2. Changes in various goods and services prices month-on-month:
In August, the prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol increased by 2.2% compared to July, contributing to a 0.61% increase in CPI. Within food items, vegetable prices rose by 18.1%, affecting CPI by about 0.38%; fruit prices increased by 3.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.08%; meat prices went up by 3.6%, with pork prices specifically rising by 7.3% and contributing to a 0.10% increase in CPI; egg prices increased by 2.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.02%.
Overall, prices for housing and medical care remained stable, while prices for transportation and communication, household items and services, and other goods and services decreased by 1.1%, 0.7%, and 0.6% respectively. Additionally, prices for clothing and education, culture, and entertainment decreased by 0.2% and 0.1%.
