On September 27, 2025 at 5:49:57, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Longxi County, Gansu Province, with a depth of 10 kilometers. Following the earthquake, the Ministry of Water Resources immediately activated the water resources anti-seismic and disaster relief command mechanism, holding a special meeting in the morning of the 27th to analyze the impact of the earthquake on water conservancy projects and rural water supply, as well as the rainfall situation in the affected area, and to arrange and deploy water resources anti-seismic and disaster relief work. The Ministry of Water Resources used the national "water resources map" and satellite remote sensing technology to analyze the distribution of rivers and water conservancy projects near the epicenter, and promptly notified the Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources, urging local water resources departments to conduct a comprehensive survey of the damage to small and medium-sized reservoirs, hazardous reservoirs, embankments, water supply projects, and levees in the earthquake zone.
