Yu Weining, Chief Statistician of the Industrial Department of the National Bureau of Statistics: From January to August, with the effective implementation of macroeconomic policies and the deepening of the nationwide unified large market, combined with the multiple factors such as the low base in the same period last year, the profits of industrial enterprises above a certain scale increased by 0.9% year-on-year. The equipment manufacturing industry provided strong support, and profits of enterprises of different scales improved. Industrial enterprise profits significantly improved. From January to August, the profits of industrial enterprises above a certain scale increased by 0.9% compared to the same period in 1-7 months, reversing the downward trend of accumulated profits of enterprises since May this year. Looking at the three major categories, from January to August, the manufacturing industry grew by 7.4%, an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to 1-7 months; the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry grew by 9.4%, an increase of 5.5 percentage points; the mining industry decreased by 30.6%, a decrease of 1.0 percentage point. On a monthly basis, profits of industrial enterprises above a certain scale in August increased by double digits, turning from a 1.5% decrease in July to a 20.4% increase, with a significant improvement in industrial enterprise profits for the month. Industrial enterprise revenue maintained steady growth. From January to August, the operating income of industrial enterprises above a certain scale increased by 2.3% year-on-year, remaining flat from 1-7 months. In August, industrial enterprise operating income increased by 1.9%, an increase of 1.0 percentage point compared to July, accelerating the growth of operating income and creating favorable conditions for continued profitability of enterprises.
