In 2035, the National Autonomous Contribution Expert Symposium was held.
On September 25th, Li Gao, a member of the Party Group of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Vice Minister, chaired the expert symposium on China's National Determined Contributions in 2035 in Beijing. The meeting pointed out that President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech at the UN Climate Change Summit, announcing a new round of China's National Determined Contributions, which for the first time set absolute targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions covering the entire economic scope. This reflects China's firm determination to actively address climate change, provides guidance for China's transition to a green and low-carbon economy in the 15th and 16th Five-Year Plans, demonstrates China's responsibility to work together with other countries to address global climate change, and injects certainty and stability into global climate governance.
The meeting emphasized that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the "dual carbon" goals. China has been taking sustained actions to promote green and low-carbon transformation and contribute China's strength to global climate governance. The 2035 national determined contributions targets that have been proposed fully demonstrate China's ambition and determination to address climate change. Achieving these goals requires hard work from China itself as well as a conducive and open international environment. We must unify our thinking with the important decisions made by the Party Central Committee on China's national determined contributions and "dual carbon" goals, deeply understand the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speeches, and promote the implementation of these goals from a higher perspective, broader vision, and more practical measures to help achieve the goals of building a beautiful China, socialist modernization, and the construction of a shared future for humanity.
