The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government stated today that during the mainland National Day golden week period (from October 1 to October 8), the Immigration Department expects approximately 8.76 million people to enter and exit Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air control points. After consultation with mainland departments such as the Immigration Department and the Shenzhen General Station of Immigration Inspection, it is estimated that approximately 7.52 million people will enter and exit Hong Kong through various land border control points. The busiest day for land exits is October 4, with an estimated 660,000 departures, while the peak day for arrivals is October 1, with approximately 610,000 arrivals. During the holiday period, the Immigration Department estimates that the Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, and Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be very busy, with an average daily throughput of approximately 240,000, 220,000, and 140,000 people entering and exiting respectively. To manage the flow of passengers during the holiday period, the Immigration Department has reduced frontline staff leave and increased flexibility in manpower deployment, opening additional inspection counters and lanes to facilitate the flow of people and vehicles.
