In the midst of continued attention on President Trump and his family's involvement in cryptocurrency, Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Atkins responded to questions about conflicts of interest. During a conference hosted by the Parosh Financial Markets and Policy Center at Georgetown University on Thursday, a student asked Atkins for his views on conflicts of interest in the cryptocurrency field. Atkins responded, "I mean, if there are conflicts of interest, we will try to root them out, but first we need to establish standards." In a press conference after the meeting, when asked whether general conflicts of interest within the Trump administration would affect the SEC's regulation of cryptocurrency, Atkins said his agency had "work to do" and added that he could not comment on any specific company or product.
