The United Nations holds a high-level meeting on non-communicable diseases and mental health.

The fourth United Nations High-level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the 25th local time. Due to opposition from a small number of member states, a United Nations political declaration on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases was not adopted at the meeting. Volkan Bozkir, President of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, stated at the end of the meeting that a draft political declaration prepared for this meeting had received wide support but was opposed by several member states, and will be discussed by the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly next.
