The Federal Trade Commission of the United States announced that it has reached a settlement agreement with Amazon.com, Inc., in which the company's Senior Vice President Neil Lindsay and Vice President Jamil Ghani are both included in the settlement agreement. Previously, the Federal Trade Commission of the United States accused Amazon of enrolling millions of consumers in Prime membership services without their consent and intentionally setting up a complex cancellation process. Under the agreement, Amazon is required to pay a $1 billion civil penalty, refund $1.5 billion in compensation to consumers affected by fraudulent registration behavior, and stop the illegal registration and cancellation of Prime services.
