On September 25th, local time, the head of the joint security organization composed of police and military in Madagascar, Angelo Ravelonarivo, announced that a curfew would be imposed in the capital city from 7pm to 5am the next day until social order is restored. On that day, the Chinese Embassy in Madagascar issued a security alert stating that the capital city of Antananarivo had erupted in large-scale demonstrations, and the situation was not yet under control, with some Chinese-owned shops being affected. The Embassy advised Chinese citizens and institutions in Madagascar to closely monitor the local security situation, remain vigilant, enhance protection measures, close doors and suspend business operations, reduce unnecessary outings, comply with local laws and regulations, stay away from demonstrations and crowded areas, pay attention to traffic restrictions caused by gatherings, and ensure personal safety. They recommended that individuals planning to travel to Madagascar conduct a risk assessment and exercise caution in their recent travels. In the event of an emergency, they advised seeking shelter, leaving the scene as soon as possible, and calling for assistance.
