Chinese representatives at the Human Rights Council called for the improvement of global human rights governance.
Chen Xu, the representative of China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, attended and spoke at the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the 25th, calling on all parties to improve global human rights governance. Representing nearly 80 countries in a joint statement, Chen Xu pointed out that multilateralism is facing severe challenges at present, and all parties should enhance efficiency, simplify procedures, eliminate duplication, and strengthen transparency through the reform of the United Nations on its 80th anniversary. He proposed five suggestions: first, to uphold sovereign equality, all countries, regardless of size, strength, or wealth, have the right to equal participation, decision-making, and benefits in global governance; second, to abide by the rule of international law, ensuring equal and uniform application of international law, without double standards; third, to practice multilateralism, promoting collaboration, construction, and sharing, and opposing unilateralism; fourth, to advocate for people-centered development, advancing various human rights in a balanced manner; fifth, to focus on action-oriented efforts, seeking practical results, promoting the improvement of global human rights governance, and jointly opening up a bright prospect of peace, security, prosperity, and progress.
