Hedge fund manager David Einhorn warns that even though artificial intelligence technology itself is revolutionary, unprecedented spending on the infrastructure for AI could destroy a significant amount of capital. The founder of Greenlight Capital stated that the overall investment of tens of trillions of dollars by companies like Apple, Meta Platforms Inc., and OpenAI is too extreme and the potential returns are highly uncertain. While he expects AI to eventually surpass current optimistic forecasts, he also questions whether investing one trillion or five hundred billion dollars a year will bring good returns to the companies making those investments.

Jin-Wook Kim, an analyst at Citigroup, reported that the likelihood of a rapid agreement on a deal between South Korea and the United States to lower tariffs in exchange for a $350 billion investment fund in the US has decreased. Both South Korea and the US have struggled to finalize the details of the agreement, which was verbally agreed upon in July but has not been formally signed. Kim stated that after a long standoff, both sides may reach a partial compromise or, if a final agreement is not reached during the APEC South Korea Summit held on October 31 to November 1 (where Trump is reported to attend), the US may impose the previously proposed 25% or even higher tariffs on South Korean goods.
