From January to August, a total of 21,700 old urban neighborhoods across the country were renovated and rebuilt.
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, 21,700 old urban residential areas have been newly renovated in the first eight months of this year. By 2025, the national plan is to start renovations on 25,000 old urban residential areas. It is reported that from 2019 to 2024, a total of 280,000 old residential areas have been renovated nationwide, benefiting 48 million households and over 120 million people. A total of 360,000 kilometers of aging pipelines have been upgraded, 3.87 million parking spaces have been added, and 78,000 community service facilities for the elderly, daycare, and other purposes have been built. The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development stated that the next step is to continue to deepen this work after completing the task of renovating old urban residential areas during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The focus will be on renovating aging pipelines within residential areas to eliminate safety hazards. They will also carry out maintenance of public areas such as roofs, exterior walls, and stairs of buildings, as well as renovation and construction of the residential environment and supporting facilities within the residential areas. Energy-saving renovations of buildings within the residential areas will be conducted, supporting buildings that meet the conditions for installing elevators to improve the living conditions and living environment of the people.
