Mainland Affairs Council: The mainland's sincerity in promoting cross-strait tourism exchanges and cooperation has not changed.

On September 24th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. In response to recent remarks made by the Taiwan Affairs Office on cross-strait cultural and educational exchanges and tourism, spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that our sincerity in promoting cross-strait tourism exchanges and cooperation remains unchanged, and the policy announced at the beginning of this year to resume group tours to the island for residents of Fujian and Shanghai is still in effect. The Democratic Progressive Party deliberately distorts the actual functions of the cross-strait tourism industry's civil organizations, attempting to politicize contacts between the two sides and make it a prerequisite for the resumption of mainland residents' visits to Taiwan, fully illustrating that the crux and obstacles of the cross-strait tourism issue lie in the DPP's interference and obstruction. Regarding the resumption of mainland students studying in Taiwan, we have made explanations multiple times before. The DPP continuously obstructs and limits cross-strait educational exchange cooperation, disregards the willingness of Taiwan's education sector and young students to participate in cross-strait exchanges, arbitrarily restricts mainland students from studying in Taiwan, sets unreasonable restrictions on mainland students in Taiwan, and treats them unfairly. How can mainland students be willing to study in Taiwan and their parents be assured to let their children study in Taiwan? We advise the DPP to quickly stop political manipulation, effectively protect the rights and interests of mainland students in Taiwan, which is the right way to solve the relevant issues.
