Microsoft releases chip with built-in microfluidic cooling system
Microsoft stated in a blog post that the company has developed a chip with an embedded microfluidic cooling system, which can effectively lower the temperature of servers running the core services for simulating Teams meetings. Microsoft's lab-scale testing showed that "depending on the workload and configuration involved, microfluidic technology performs two to three times better in heat dissipation than cold plate technology." Microsoft said that testing of this new cooling system is aimed at addressing the heat dissipation issues that arise when chips in data centers are running artificial intelligence.
