Collapse of a gold mine in northwest Colombia, trapping 25 miners.
A collapse occurred at a gold mine operated by a Canadian company in the city of Segovia, Antioquia Province in northwest Colombia on September 22nd local time, trapping 25 miners about 80 meters underground. After the accident, the miners were initially out of contact and their families urgently sought help from authorities. A spokesperson for the local government confirmed on the 23rd that contact had been made with the trapped individuals and that the miners were in good health. Currently, rescue teams are on-site carrying out rescue operations and providing food and oxygen to the miners.
