According to the Financial Times, the European Union is set to review whether Apple, Google, and Microsoft have effectively combated online financial fraud, while also strengthening regulations on the online operations of large tech companies. EU Tech Chief Henna Virkkunen stated that EU regulators will issue formal information requests to these three American tech giants as well as global accommodation platform Booking Holdings on Tuesday, authorized by the Digital Services Act, to combat financial fraud. Virkkunen said, "We see more and more criminal activity happening online. We must ensure online platforms are doing everything they can to detect and prevent such illegal content." This move could potentially lead to formal investigations in the future and result in potential fines for these companies.
