India is one of the largest consumer markets for electronic products in the world, but it currently lacks a domestic chip industry and plays a minimal role in the global supply chain. The "Semiconductor Mission" plan launched by the Indian government aims to change this situation. The goal of this plan is ambitious - India hopes to build a complete chip supply chain domestically, covering everything from chip design and manufacturing to testing and packaging. As of this month, India has approved 10 semiconductor projects with a total investment of 1.6 trillion rupees. This includes two semiconductor manufacturing factories and multiple testing and packaging factories. In addition, India has a pool of engineering talent, many of whom currently work for global chip design companies. However, experts point out that the progress of these projects is uneven at the moment, and that both the funding invested and the existing talent pool are insufficient to support India's ambitions in the field of semiconductors.
