President Trump stated that his administration is currently linking acetaminophen to autism and urging pregnant women to largely avoid using the medication. "So I have to say, taking Tylenol is not good - it's really not good. That's why they strongly advise women to limit the use of Tylenol during pregnancy unless there is a medical necessity," Trump said during an event at the White House on Monday, with Health Secretary Kennedy also present. Trump also criticized childhood vaccination policies during the event, stating that vaccination schedules should be spread out. He believes that children should not be given combination vaccines that prevent multiple diseases at once, and that vaccines should be administered in multiple doses over a longer period of time. "As for vaccines, instead of injecting babies with multiple vaccines and lots of drugs all at once during one visit, it's better to do it in separate doses. For example, getting vaccinated four or five times over a period of time would be better," Trump said. This statement on Monday is the latest example of Kennedy and Trump attempting to overturn existing health guidelines and medical practices during this administration. Trump also announced that the National Institutes of Health will provide funding for 13 major research projects related to autism. The stock price of Tylenol manufacturer Kauswo Pharmaceuticals fell 7.5% earlier on Monday, closing at a historic low. Kauswo Pharmaceuticals responded on Sunday, stating that "independent, reliable scientific research" shows that taking acetaminophen does not lead to autism.
